i'm listening to paint it black. i'd forgotten what a good song that is. i just downloaded a doors cover and now i'm waiting on the led zep cover. but i think i like the stones the best.

remember the simpsons where they had the sensory deprivation dealys? and homer and lisa went to destress in them? i wish i had a sensory deprivation thingy.

i finally started reading infinite jest. i just went to the library and got a whole new load of books today. so i had to pause in infinite jest and read first love, last rites. just because i liked the title. it was an ok read.

i've been meaning to read infinite jest forever. it's one of those long books, though. so i have to read four other things at the same time.

sometimes it's late at night and dark and quiet and i want to read but i don't want to have to process the words. infinite jest isn't one of those sorts of books.

every once in a while i close my eyes and if it's quiet it feels just like disappearing, you know. i need to learn how to put myself in a trance. but yeah, sometimes i'm thinking so hard about nothingness that when i open my eyes it's just this huge shock to see that everything's still the same. i feel it. like, this physical jolt.

there are birds whose hearts go so much faster when they're scared that they burst and they die. that's why you shouldn't scare little birds. because you might become a little bird murderer. i worked with birds one summer. zebra finches are really, really cute when they're sedated and groggy and stumbling around with half-closed eyes.
