1) the other day my printer ran out of ink. this was funny because earlier in the week i'd been talking to trey about how i should go buy a new ink cartridge because once i actually run out, the motivation to buy the cartridge drops off dramatically. it's like, oh, i really need it? well, i'm not gonna buy it. that'll show them. i'm not sure who 'them' is. but anyway. so i printed out assignments in dark blue for a while, but eventually i got myself to office depot, where they were sold out of all the hp720 series inkjet cartridges. they did, however, have an intriguing refill kit in stock. so i decided to take my chances with it, even thought it was "not approved by hewlett packard ." so i followed the oh-so-simple directions (which included their 'cartridge tool' breaking before i could displace the bb it was supposed to, well, displace) and refilled my existing ink cartridge "for half the price of a new cartridge." then i clicked the new bb in and popped it back into the printer. i printed something. it said, do you want to align first? i said, sure. what did i get? a big page of smeared black ink. shit. i was annoyed. i decided to quit the align process. and then i had to leave for something, so i couldn't really do anything about the printer at that time. but when i got back to it, i thought, hmm, we'll clean the print heads off. so i did this with a "clean, lint-free cloth" first, and while it did reduce the darkness of the smeared ink, it didn't fix the problem. so i ran hp's little cleaning toolbox deal and decided it had to fix it because i was NOT going out and buying a new cartridge. and yeah. it did. so we're pleased about that. works like a charm, even.

2) on saturday, i got up early. around 8. i usually have campanile rehearsal from 10-1, but on this particular saturday, rehearsal was from 2-5. i made a list of things to accomplish before 2. everything on the list was accomplished (or deleted from the list, anyway) by 11:30. so i thought, hey, why not take a little nap? angie knocked on the door at 1 and asked if i still wanted to go to the lacrosse game as i'd indicated the day before. sure, i said. i got up 8 minutes later, got ready, and left. but it was weird. because in my little 11:30 nap, i slid into that sleep that's not nap sleep. the real, nighttime variety. and it messed me up for the rest of the day, because it felt like some random day inserted in between saturday and sunday. but not in a good, extra-time kind of way, just a freaky, what's-going-on kind of way. then i went to rehearsal and when i came out a little past 5 the sky was starting to darken and it felt like it might possibly be saturday evening. and so i fell back into saturday. that's exactly what it felt like. falling back into the day. strange feeling, that.
