mornings start out gray and unpromising but then something happens and more of the gray turns bluewhitegold and the wind is softer like

do you remember when it wasn't necessary to dial the three digit area code, do you remember when they said ten digit calling, do you remember when it all became a matter of people and a multiplication product that just wasn't big enough. but now we're here where seven digits are enough and we can lean out the window and maybe smell the sea or at least imagine that we can smell the sea and we can see bridges and boats and there is a memory of an older time and it's earlier here and i'm awake and dreaming while you lie quietly in your bed, eyes closed, asleep, dreaming, i can't be there, i'm so far away. it isn't just miles, it's the air rushing in to fill the space between us all, when i say you, i mean you all. we don't plan everything that happens, some of us don't plan anything that happens, sometimes things just happen. remember me and dream about me and i'll be back someday, maybe next year, maybe three years, maybe five years, maybe in some other time or world or reality.

the space is large enough that it allows us to breathe and this is a rather novel feeling. you can remember walking through the cold wind whipping around shoulders, you can remember sliding through the space between warm, cold, warmer, sun hot. you can remember a bench and another bench and another bench and a sailboat, a firehouse, a bridge, finally, the sun warm on the backs of your legs and a boy in black jeans walking, dripping, out of the water. it's too cold for that foolishness and then you spread yourself across the warm stone and then sun reaches out and strokes your back and the wind is drying your hair, and it's very nice, but it's too cold, too cold for that foolishness. and then he took out his camera and remembered it forever.
