he's talking about the whole casey martin-golf cart-walking-pga tour controversy and he says, walking is an integral part of the game, walking is necessary, it makes them feel as if they were athletes. and this is a golfer-friendly sportscaster? as if they were athletes. too perfect.

what's that movie. the one where he says thank you for a day filled with too much perfection or something like that. christian slater. bed of roses. mary stuart masterson. johnny depp. benny and joon. christina ricci. sleepy hollow. william h. macy. is he in that. shit, he's in everything. seriously.

i would love to hold my hand up and watch the air turn liquid the way air turns liquid when viewed through too much smoke. you know what i mean. and then to watch the small things in the world get caught in the waves and ripples. and then to feel the tension of static objects, but the air still moving quietly. when they hang over the high walls, fingers barely hanging on, bodies fully extended, stretching down the wall, and then the letting go, that is the release of tension, and the falling and the landing is maybe less exciting than the hanging on if you are of the same mind as don delillo.

ratner's star. mao ii. oh, white noise. yes, that was the one. getting things mixed up with all of the other text in between and then what's the story, the girl with the curious hair, the broom of the system, infinite jest, oh yes, this is necessary for all of us, but especially those of us with three first names, or alternately three last names. or maybe even for those of us who may have more than one middle name. i guess there's really no limit to the number of names you can have, but it feels like you'd have to stretch yourself out to accommodate the extras. are you enough of a person for four, five, six names. i don't know. or maybe there are silent names like the k in knight, the g in knight, the letters that take up space and shape words and are so important when we consider things like form and structure but not when we consider the harder things, sound, color, what words might be if we couldn't see or feel or taste, only listen, only hear.

is that enough? what's the deal with canada? oh goodness. what's the deal with it all?
