back in houston. i forgot how oppressive the heat can be. note: houston heat is oppressive. it's august. it's humid and nasty. i miss the bay area already. today on the plane i neatly avoided a discussion between a young black baptist stockbroker/barbershop owner and a middle-aged white methodist blue-collar worker about the importance of knowing the lord and also the importance of diversifying your portfolio. oh, and if you know the lord and follow the lord, i think he leads you to diversify your portfolio as you should, so that's pretty cool. anyway, i slept most of the way home, woke up and ate some baby carrots, went back to sleep and feigned sleep in any remaining moments, which usually led me back to sleep rather quickly. but get this. when i woke up for the last time as we touched down, the dude next to me (the old one who's like, older than my dad) takes his little airplane pillow, bops me on the head with it, and makes some sort of quip about sleepwalking being hazardous to your health. i'm sitting there looking at him thinking, did that really just happen? i need to look meaner. i mean, really.
i can't even believe i'm saying this, really, but i think that i will HAVE to be at the apt tomorrow for the sex and the city season finale. angie should be back and i can't imagine a more fun way to waste an hour or so. and then we can catch up and it'll be like old times, 'old times' being about four months ago...
spain is very soon, you guys. very soon. also i have listened to poe's new album haunted and loved every minute of it. it's amazing. i guess it's more amazing after reading house of leaves, but i bet it's pretty amazing all by itself. check it out.
in other news? hell, i don't know. friend of mine from high school just got engaged. crazy. i'm moving farther and farther away from that. i can't wait to move out to ca with melissa after europe. we're gonna have a blast.
