some things you think over and over again. oh, you say, i will never ever EVER again do a karaoke song if i do not know the words. i don't care what a great "karaoke song" it might be -- if i do not know all the words, i will not do the song. it doesn't matter that the words are on the screen. it never does. it does not matter that with our lovely group tonight, en vogue's 'my loving (never gonna get it)' is a great "karaoke song" because, see, none of us know any of the words. oh, there they are, lit up on the screen, but what's going on, it's ahead or behind, and whoa, we don't even remember how any of this goes except for the chorus. oh, and this part, the part where we "break it down." see, this is embarrassing, moreso than karaoke is inherently. and you remember the episode with the spice girls, right, and wasn't there a little to-do about locomotion years ago? ok then. so next time it's summer of '69 or bust, right? yeah, sure.

walking through the grocery store, listening to elevator music, i find myself humming along or, recently, even singing along to songs i can't remember being familiar with. but i'm listening and i know all the words and i'm a little unnerved, and then i figure it out, these are all the originals of the covers i love to listen to, the catpowertori(mostly) covers, sea of love, i don't like mondays, i mean, of course there's other things but we all understand i found a reason and new age are lou reed so there's not that blurry moment of realization. also that doesn't happen with tori's cover of eminem's '97 bonnie and clyde. i swear, you can only listen to that song once a day, if that much. too creepy. maybe creepier when tori does it even. it really needs to be followed up by stephen lynch's lullaby. trust me on this one.
